About Us

GreenWatch Dhaka <greenwatchbd.com> is an online daily newspaper promoting sustainable life, democracy and human rights. It is based in Dhaka the Bangladesh capital. It was started in 1995 as a monthly newspaper named Green Watch in print.
Monthly ‘Green Watch’ was started to promote environment-friendly progress against one-eyed development activities pursued degrading or depleting natural resources. Its core areas included forests, biodiversity, wildlife conservation; prevention of water, wetlands and river pollution. It successfully campaigned against toxic waste dumping.
Over time its areas of concentration widened to sustainable development covering all its aspects now called SDGs. Human rights and democratic governance are among its core areas of campaign. GreenWatch Dhaka works primarily through the dissemination of information at the mass level. In 2011 it turned into an online publication as GreenWatch BD. After June 2013 it was renamed GreenWatch Dhaka.
GreenWatch Dhaka is the mouthpiece of Green Watch Dhaka Publications, a private firm incorporated with the Registrar of Firms, Government of Bangladesh. It operates under a trade licence from the Dhaka South City Corporation. It has a VAT registration with the National Board of Revenue. Mostafa Kamal Majumder, his wife Mrs Rehana Kamal and daughter Farzana Afroze Zerin are its shareholders.
