85.95pc pass HSC exams, 1,76,282 get GPA-5

 A total of 85.95 percent students, on an average, passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations-2022 held under 11 education boards in the country.

"Among the successful candidates, a total of 1,76,282 got GPA-5 (maximum grade point average) in the examinations," Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni told a press conference at International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) here today. 

Among the total examinees, 10,11,987 students have been successful in the HSC and equivalent examinations-2022, she said, adding a total of 11,77,387 students appeared in this year's HSC and equivalent examinations. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today unveiled the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations results.

At the press conference, Dipu Moni called upon the students to grow up with values, ethics and human qualities alongside achieving good result in examinations. 

She said, "A total of 1,76,282 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the HSC and equivalent examinations 2022 under 11 education boards, which was 1,89,169 in 2021." 

Among the GPA-5 holders, 80,561 are male students and 95,721 are female, she added. 

A total of 1,59,755 students achieved GPA-5 under nine general education boards, 9,423 students under madrasah education board and 7,104 under technical education board.

A total of 9,423 students got GPA-5 in the Alim examinations-2022 under the Madrasah education board, which was 4,872 in 2021. 

Among the examinees, 83,553 students have been successful in the Madrasah board out of 90,266 appeared students. Of the total successful students, the percentage of GPA-5 holders in the Madrasah education board is 10.44, it added.

A total of 1,330 educational institutions out of 9,139 achieved 100 percent pass in the HSC and its equivalent examinations-2022 which was 1,934 in 2021.

Of those, 93 institutions are from Dhaka Board, 31 from Rajshahi Board, 37 from Cumilla Board, 39 from Jashore Board, 16 from Chattagram Board, 34 from Barishal Board, 11 from Sylhet Board, 24 from Dinajpur Board and 12 from Mymensingh Board, 814 from Madrasa Board and 219 from technical board. 

Students of 50 colleges and madrasas under eight Education Boards have failed to come out successful in HSC and equivalent examinations-2022. 

The number of colleges and madrasas with 'zero results' was five in 2021.

According to the HSC results published, the number of zero pass rate institutions is eight in Dhaka, nine in Rajshahi, five in Cumilla, six in Jashore, 13 in Dinajpur, three in Mymensingh, four in Madrasah and two in technical Board.

Cumilla Board has secured the top position among nine general educational boards with 90.72 percent pass rate in the HSC examinations held in 2022. 

Students under Dinajpur Board performed poorly in terms of pass rate in HSC examinations-2022 out of nine general education boards with 79.08 percent pass rate.

The pass rate of Dhaka board in 87.83 percent, while it is 86.95 in Barishal Board, 83.95 in Jashore Board, 81.60 in Rajshahi, 81.40 in Sylhet, 80.50 in Chattogram Board and 80.32 in Mymensingh Board.

Besides, nine general education Boards and Madrasah Board has managed to achieve 92.56 percent pass rate while technical Board with 94.42 pass rate secured top position among all 11 education Boards in terms of pass rate.

A total of 9, 69,338 students appeared in the examinations at nine general education boards held in 2022. Among them, 8, 17, 230 students have been successful in the HSC examinations. 

As many as 218 students from eight overseas centres came out successful in the HSC examinations-2022 with 97.32 percent pass rate.

A total of 224 students appeared in the examinations from the overseas centres, reports BSS.
